Porsche has put its next electric car, the Porsche Macan, through an extensive and demanding test program as part of the preparations for the upcoming world premiere.
– When we develop a new model, it’s always about driving dynamics and precision. It’s Porsche. It’s in our DNA. But it is also always about efficiency. And design, says Jörg Kerner, Vice President Product Line Macan.
In the video below, we get to follow Porsche’s engineers, test drivers and racing driver Timo Bernhard on the journey that the electrically powered Porsche Macan has had to undergo. To date, the camouflaged Macan prototypes have driven more than three and a half million test kilometers on test tracks and public roads.
The Porsche Macan is based on the new electric car platform PPE, which was developed together with Audi. The 800-volt-based platform should, among other things, perform well during fast charging with charging power up to 270 kW. Charging the 100 kWh battery from 10 to 80 percent should be possible in 22 minutes.
The Macan will be offered with a number of different engine options, but some of the key values are a total engine power of 450 kW (603 hp) which should cover 0 to 100 km/h in 4.4 seconds. Top speed is 250 km/h. The range should be over 500 kilometers (WLTP) on all model variants.
