At the technology fair CES in Las Vegas, Caterpillar, which manufactures construction machinery, showed how they will begin to electrify the workplaces of the future.
Among the vehicles on site was Caterpillar’s mini excavator 301.9, which with a 32 kWh battery can last 8 hours on a single charge.
However, the star of Caterpillar’s stand at the fair was the underground loader Cat R1700 XE LHD with a payload of 15 tonnes. The vehicle is propelled forward by an engine that produces up to 335 horsepower with a torque of 3200 N and a top speed at 18 km/h. One of the impressive features was that the battery should be possible to charge in less than 20 minutes, to allow the vehicle to work efficiently.
In the video below, Caterpillar tells us more about their vehicles but also many of the energy solutions they provides to enable the electrification of workplaces.
